Safe on the Road Association Game

Game rules

This game can be played with 2–8 players. Each player chooses a colored card (child in traffic) and also takes the matching playing-piece card. All players start at the green crossing button marked ‘start’ on the game board. Take turns rolling the die, counting, and moving your playing piece (card in a stand or a physical object used as a playing piece) on the game board. Look at and name the traffic object or person you land on. Think carefully and look for one or more objects, characteristics, or elements that match the image you are on. For example: wheel: ‘vehicles with wheels’; pedestrian sign matches a fluorescent safety vest or zebra crossing. Skateboard matches a helmet and knee pads; police matches a traffic cone, stop sign, ... Water matches boats; railway tracks match a train or tram. Clouds match an airplane, helicopter, or hot-air balloon. The road matches all vehicles that drive on the road, etc...

Explain the connection or association between the images. Then cover them with the round image token from the game board. Try to have as many round tokens as possible on your card before reaching the end (the red stop button). Who is the fastest in traffic, and who collects the most traffic associations? Everyone must first reach the end; then we count who has placed the most round tokens on their card. So there are two winners.

Tip

You can use physical objects as playing pieces, such as peg dolls or miniature traffic signs. Alternatively, you can use our playing-piece cards and attach them to a stand or a block (such as wood or Duplo).

Level

We recommend this for the oldest preschoolers! Depending on your class group, you can decide for yourself whether this bundle is suitable.
