Game rules
Before the game starts, attach the 2 parts of the game board together. Shuffle the cards and make a pile. This game can be played with 5 players. Each player chooses a child color as a pawn. You can use the pawn cards or cut out the child figures along the dotted line. All pawns start on the image of their chosen child. The children race to see who can reach their school bag fastest as the color champion. You can offer this race in 3 different ways to differentiate.
Game mode 1, Word parts: Each player takes turns drawing one card from the pile and lays it face up. Which color, object, animal, or character is on it? Clap and break this word into word parts/syllables. How many parts do you hear in the word (your choice with or without article). You may move your child’s pawn forward that many spaces on the game board. Continue until someone reaches the end (the school bag on the coat rack) first.
Game mode 2, Spin the color: Each turn, one player may spin the C-spinner. Which color do we see? Only the player with the child that matches that color may move one step forward. You can use the color spots or the colored pencils.
Game mode 3, Spin and connect: Each turn, one player may spin the C-spinner. Which class symbol do we see? Only the player with the child that matches this class symbol (look at the school bags) may move one step forward.
TIP
You can also add a die for game modes 2 and 3. Then the number of steps forward is also determined and you add a counting exercise. If you don’t have a C-spinner, you can also use the cards with colored pencils or real pencils; let them grab a color from a feeling bag.
Level
Game mode 1 for the oldest preschoolers is our recommendation! Game modes 2 and 3 for the youngest preschoolers are our recommendation! Depending on your class group, you decide whether this bundle is feasible or not.
