Game Rules

Before the game can begin, attach the 2 parts of the game board together. Shuffle the cards and make a stack. This game can be played with 5 players. Each player chooses a carnival character as a game piece (e.g., knight, pirate, princess). You can use the game piece cards or cut out the figures along the dotted line. All game pieces start on the picture of their chosen character. You can offer this race in 4 different ways to vary the game.

Game mode 1, Word parts: Each player takes turns drawing one card from the stack and lays it open. What object or character is on it? Clap and split this word into word parts / syllables. How many parts do you hear in the word (without the article)? You may move your game piece forward that many spaces on the game board. Continue until someone first reaches the end (costume accessory). For example: clown to the red nose, pirate to the eye patch, princess to the tiara, etc.

Game mode 2, Spin the color: Each turn one player may spin the C-spinner. Which color do we see? Only the player with the character that matches that color may move one step forward. For example: Yellow = the clown, green = the knight, etc.

Game mode 3, Spin the character: Each turn one player may spin the C-spinner. Which character do we see? Only the player with the same character as game piece may move one step forward. If you do not have a spinner, you can also put the character cards in a bag.

Game mode 4, Spin and connect: Each turn one player may spin the C-spinner. Which object / accessory do we see? Only the player with the character that matches this object or accessory may move one step forward.

TIP

You can also add a die to game modes 2 to 4. Then the number of steps forward is also determined and you add a counting exercise.

Level

Game modes 1 and 4 are recommended for the oldest preschoolers! Game modes 2 and 3 are recommended for the youngest preschoolers! Depending on your class group, you decide whether this bundle is feasible or not.
